Cleveland Brown has left Quahog, Rhode Island with his son Cleveland Junior to his hometown of Stoolbend to get a fresh start in life. This begs the big question, “where in the world is Stoolbend?”
We know that Stoolbend is located in the great state of Virginia, located on the East Coast of the United States of America. However, nothing more can be found. A google maps search for “Stoolbend” yields no results. We are left wondering whether Stoolbend is just too small in population to be officially recognized by any official map company.

Is it perhaps a suburb of Richmond or just some small podunk town in the middle of nowhere? Perhaps watching “The Cleveland Show” will yield some clues as to where this mysterious village lies. Until then, we can only hypothesize.

LOL @ the name “Stoolbend”
its a made up town, it doesnt exist. Just like Quahog.
^^ “stoolbend” is a real place in virqinia Sir, so before you pass any judgement about this show or it’s topic, you should plan on qettinq your fact’s straiqht, yet it’s name sound’s extremely comical:D
thanks for your time(;
I would have to guess that it would be in South-East Virginia, probably near Hampton Roads/Newport News. That is where the majority of African-Americans native to the Commonwealth are from. I’d also give it an off chance that it’s in the Northern Virginia DC suburbs.
my thoughts went to nova too. unfortunately, as a resident, i can safely say that i have never heard of a city/community/area known as ‘stoolbend’ it’s probably made up. not that it matters or anything; it’ll probably get cancelled soon enough
@mikestinsman, Quahog is obviously Providence, RI. Only the name was changed.
Stoolbend, is in Virginia, but it is substantualy large enough to Support a minor league Baseball team called the Stoolbend Turttleheads, though they are not very good, they still draw a good sized crowd. The only apeared once and were seen winning 1-0 over another team called the Metros. There collors are Dark red, gray and white
The architecture and rural nature of Stoolbend led me to think of somewhere near Suffolk or Southampton County (that pic w/Cleveland at the top looks a lot like downtown Franklin). Both are rural cities west of Norfolk, which has its own minor-league baseball team, the Tides, who are decent and draw good-sized crowds.
Lol@Turtleheads
what the hell i live in hampton roads and its nothing like that so i would have to say north dc area
or near Roanoke va maybe richmond but who cares its a tv show !
Stoolbend is probably Richmond, or in that vicinity. The aerial view of the river in the intro is looks a lot like a bend in the James River near the city, and the falls in the river show that it’s on the fall line, suggesting Richmond as a possible location.
Yah it’s nothing like Northern Va unless you’re thinking of Winchester, It’s certainly not a suburb of Richmond & the tidewater region has no bears but there are bears through out the mountains and East to Richmond.
Quahog is nothing like Providence and it’s not Newport but it could be any of the coastal towns of RI except New Port.
LOL,stoolbend. but the place is real and the place has nice places and senery
I’m guessing it could be Short Pump VA near richmond.
My guess is the Shenandoah area…west enough to small town and north enough to be almost devoid of a southern accent such as those further south in the state.
Still …some characters that grew up there have thet Southwest Virginian ‘twang’…not real sure how that works.
It most likely is Richmond because that’s where Mike Henry the show’s creator is from.
Actually southeast virginia does have bears.
I think its Martinsville.
Its in the Shenandoah valley.Obviously because of the mountains and the rednecks.I live in Waynesboro VA and The cleveland show has references to my area.Ifyou catch the begining when the camera swoops down to the ground you can see the Shenandoah valley. It swoops down near “The Noke” aka roanoke.I was crackin up over this show because of the resemblances of the valley.I love Augusta County and Yes we have Black people.
the arial view of the river looks more like great falls in nova than the james river
also in the last episode they went to “stoolbend galleria” sounds like a parody of tysons galleria
I have lived in VA for 20+ years. I had a job doing inventory for Wal-Marts (traveling ALL over VA). I’ve never heard of Stoolbend before this show. I think the name is made up. You can do searches on other small towns (small enough to not have a Wal-Mart) like Body Camp, Tappahanock, or Huddleston, and you will get results.
Definitely made up ! I guess stoolbend is the u-bend in a toilet
Another clue is the baseball team called the turtlehead – which a phrase in the UK meaning you are absolutely busting to go to the lavatory for a s**t !!
usage – “where is the nearest toilet(bathroom) – I have got the turtle’s head here. if it is more 20 yards away I will be dropping it in my pants(underwear).”
pity they didn’t call the bar ” Touching Cloth” – another “turtlehead” phrase
The true location of Stool bend in my opinion is Lynchburg Virginia. it has everything that is featured in the show, mountains, a river (the James), rednecks, obese people, adult children living at home, religious fanatics, and a small African American community, a run down bar (The Depot Grill), and the occasional bear sighting. I am been disappointed with the choice of town name. Stool Bend bring to mind human waste curled up an a toilet somewhere, and Cleveland’s high school nick name “Hot Brown” is a continuation of the creators potty jokes.
I liv in stoolbend its just southeast of richmond
I think they should have an episode with a train. Especially one in a flashback. The railroads that used to run through Virginia were the Southern Railroad, Norfolk & Western, Chesepeke & Ohio, Sea Board Air Line RR, Virginian, Richmond, Federicksburg & Patomac, and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. For those unfamiler with these lines The N&W and Southern merged in the 1980′s and became Norfolk Southern, The C&O was merged with several other rail lines and became CSX and the Seadboard Air Line RR, Atlantic Coast Line RR, Virginian and RF&P railroad no longer exist. I think a flash back or something involving the mention of any of these old rail lines would give a solid clue as to where in Virgina Stoolbend is. LOL on the Touching cloth
