This Sunday, September 27th on FOX we will finally get to watch the debut episode of the Cleveland Show, entitled “Pilot”. After months of waiting, hours of commercial promotions and several blog posts Cleveland Brown will leave his friends in Quahog to start a new life with Cleveland, Jr. in Stoolbend, Virginia.
Apparently, there are several places where you can watch the first episode online illegally, however we at The Cleveland Show Blog prefer to wait and watch it at 8:30 pm EST on Sunday. Here is our preview of the episode.
Cleveland and his son are going to be bidding adieu to all their buds in Quahog, Rhode Island and embark on a road trip to Virginia. Once there, Cleveland will reunite with his high school sweetheart Donna and together they will start a new family a la Brady Bunch.
In addition, we will meet all of the Browns’ crazy neighbors, including two talking bears. The majority of the episode will most likely be spent introducing the new setting and all of the zany characters. In reality, we shouldn’t expect much else.
What does this mean? First off, we should temper our expectations because pilot episodes are usually not very exciting. Anyone judging “The Cleveland Show” as a series after watching only one episode — which I’ve already seen on a couple of blogs across the web — is not only premature, but also foolish.
I recall back in 2005 when I and the members of the staff watched the pilot episode of “American Dad!” and were not impressed at all. In fact, I remember thinking that this show would not make it past a few weeks. However, the more I watched the show the more I liked it and here I am today a full fledged fan of Stan Smith and his family.
With all that said, don’t forget to tune in to Fox this Sunday at 8:30 / 7:30 central and don’t forget to check back after the episode for our full recap and review!
